Plants

Recent church plants

1.  242 Community Church:  This church was planted in Brighton, MI in February of 2005.  NCCE was involved in a partnership to plant this congregation with several other committed churches and organizations.  Lead Pastor Dave Dummitt and his team have seen God do some tremendous work in this congregation. Nearly 1000 people are part of the weekend services in Brighton each weekend at the Brighton Center for Performing Arts.  Currently about 2/3 of the adults from this church are involved in small groups and over 100 people were baptized in 2009!

2.  Grace Community Fellowship:  This congregation is located in the Flint area.  Flint has been one of the hardest hit areas in the state of MI due to the challenges of our economy.  However, Lead Pastor Gary Cech has a vision to reach people in this community with God’s grace and hope.  This three-year old congregation has recently been able to purchase their own facility, renovate it and make great strides for Christ in their new location.  Prior to starting Grace, Gary was the senior minister at the Midland Christian Church.  When Gary and his family arrived at Midland, about 60 people were part of the congregation.  Six years later they had grown to over 300.  God has given Gary some tremendous shepherding skills to “do it again” in the Flint area.

3.  242-Ann Arbor:  NCCE partnered with the 242 Church in Brighton as well as East 91st Street Christian Church to see a ministry launched in Ann Arbor.  This new ministry is part of a multi-site strategy employed by the 242 Church in Brighton.  Launched in the spring of 2009, Ann Arbor is now seeing a thriving new ministry.  They were recently able to begin a second service and nearly 300 people are part of this new work.  Lives are changing in Ann Arbor because people are creatively leading, serving, and following God where He leads.

Future church plants

1.  Toronto:  Jose Fernandes has a burning desire to reach the Brazilian people living in the Toronto area in Canada.  Jose and his wife, Regina, are natives of Brazil.  Having left the business world, Jose became a minister and started a church in the Miami, FL area.  Jose believes that God is calling him to Toronto.  We are looking to partner with Impact Canada, a church planting ministry based in Canada.  The challenging aspect so far has been the immigration challenge as Jose and Regina are waiting to receive the permission needed to moved into Canada.

2.  Wisconsin:  NCCE is involved in planting churches in the Great Lakes Region and beyond.  We are currently involved in a new work slated for the Milwaukee, WI area.  A team is being formed to get this project off the gound and we are currently looking for a lead church planter.  We have seen God move in a couple other churches in the Milwaukee area in a great way (River Glen Christian and The Ridge) and believe that the future in this area looks bright.

3.  North Dakota:  NCCE is joining a group of interested leaders to help plant a new church in North Dakota.  Currently, there are no independent Christian Churches in this state and the capital area of Bismark looks quite promising.  We are looking to work with the Northern Plains Evangelizing Association to move ahead in this work.

4.  Allen Park:  The Southpoint Community Christian Church was planted by NCCE in 1992.  Southpoint has grown to over 1500 in weekend attendance south of Detroit, in the downriver area.  Currently, Southpoint is looking to start a ministry in Allen Park, another downriver community.  We are helping them plant this work and the date has been targeted for 10/10/10.  Much work still needs to be done, but plans are underway and we hope to see hundreds of lives changed in this new venture.
